Okay, What Is Going On With Lady Gaga In This Marina Abramovic Video?

Is this art? Is this ARTPOP? Is this real life or is this just fantasy?

Whatever it is, Lady Gaga had us all a little confused when she appeared in a new video promoting performance artist Marina Abramovic’s Kickstarter campaign for a new institute.

In the bizarre NSFW video, the Mother Monster is seen stumbling around a field blindfolded, bending over in the middle of a forest and — the pièce de résistance — sitting on a giant crystal all while in her birthday suit. Titled “The Abramovic Method Practiced by Lady Gaga,” the two-minute clip also features the “Born This Way” crooner holding a single note for 28 seconds — which is all quite impressive if you ignore the rest of the obscure stuff art that’s happening.

The fundraising campaign already has over 1,000 backers and collected at least one-third of its $600,000 goal.

As of late, Abramovic — the woman behind performance pieces like “The Artist is Present,” a 736-hour and 30-minute silent installation in which she sat immobile while spectators were invited to take turns sitting opposite of her — has been heavily involved in Gaga’s life, collaborating with the singer on her upcoming album, ARTPOP.

I’m obsessed with this woman,” Gaga gushed of Abramovic in a 2010 interview. “She is so incredible.”

Sure. Whatever pops your art.

The controversial video has been since been removed from YouTube, but here are some of the highlights from it to tie you over — below.
