Katy Perry Is Ready To ‘Roar’ At The MTV VMAs

Add Katy Perry to the already awesome list of 2013 MTV Video Music Award performers.

That’s right — MTV just announced that the queen of the KatyCats will be hitting the Barclays stage on August 25th to perform her new single, “Roar,” for the very first time.

Perry is the third act to be officially announced, joining big names Lady Gaga and Kanye West. Stephen Colbert accidentally let it slip that Daft Punk is also slated to perform after they, er, stood him up. Oops.

“Roar” is the first single off of Perry’s upcoming album, PRISM. The poppy anthem (where’s that dark Katy she was teasing?) was released on iTunes this morning after leaking over the weekend. After weeks of hype I have to admit I’m kind of “meh” about this track, but perhaps it will get better with age. We all know that the fab Ms. Perry puts on quite the show, so we have that to look forward to.

We’ll have to wait and see who else joins Katy and company in this year’s roster of VMA performers. Miley Cyrus appears in a sexy promo spot for the always-entertaining award show, but we have yet to find out if she’s actually part of the musical lineup.

Who else would you like to see hit the VMA stage?
