Kelly Clarkson Is Still Feuding With Jane Austen

The Jane Austen’s House Museum is apparently making further efforts to block Kelly Clarkson from exporting a rare Jane Austen ring she won at an auction last year.

The museum claims it has received an anonymous donation of about $155,000 —  about two-thirds of the estimated $237,000 Clarkson paid for the turquoise ring, given by Austen to her sister Cassandra — which is apparently enough money to “show a serious expression of interest to buy the ring.”

Culture minister Ed Vaizey initially put an export bar on the ring through Sept. 30. The Museum now has until Dec. 30 to raise the rest of the money. Otherwise, it would appear that Clarkson, who is engaged to boyfriend Brandon Blackstone, will get her precious ring after all.

How this saga will end remains to be seen; but if my loose reading (fine, viewing) of Pride and Prejudice has taught me anything, it will be a happy one.
