Gia Allemand’s Funeral To Be Held Next Week
The funeral will be held at Papavero Funeral Home in Flushing, New York, just outside Allemand's hometown of Queens.
Despite reports that the service will be public, a rep for the Allemand family says at this time it will be private.
Since news of her death surfaced Wednesday, reports have indicated that her apparent suicide had something to do with her rocky relationship with boyfriend, NBA star Ryan Anderson. But a source close to the reality star says there isn't one thing to blame for the family's tragic loss.
“It’s been shocking. No one really saw this coming. So you can’t pin it on one thing, one situation or one person. The family is trying to figure it out," said the source.
Anderson released a heartbreaking statement following the news of Allemand's death Aug. 14: "I'm deeply grateful for all the love and support we have received from family, friends and fans,” he said. “Gia was the most beautiful person I knew inside and out and she always smiled and made everyone else around her smile. She had such an amazing impact on my life and anyone that knew her was blessed. All I have left is to cherish those memories we made together and help perpetuate the many values, faith and love that we shared."
According to a statement from her family, Allemand was taken off life support University Hospital in New Orleans after Anderson found her at home following an apparent suicide attempt.
“Loved ones and fans will remember Gia Allemand as a caring woman who loved her family and was well-known for her compassion towards animals and mission to rescue homeless pets,” read the statement.
