Miguel Arrested for DUI in Los Angeles
The Grammy-winning hitmaker was originally pulled over by a California Highway Patrol officer some time after 2 a.m. for speeding and driving with tinted windows, which is regulated by state law.
During the stop, the CHP reportedly smelled alcohol on Miguel's breath, prompting the officer to administer a standard field sobriety test. A breathalyzer recorded Miguel's blood-alcohol count at 0.10 and 0.11, which is just above the state's legal limit of 0.08.
Miguel, 27 — whose full name is Miguel Jontel Pimentel — was then arrested for driving under the influence (DUI). He was booked at a nearby police station before eventually being released a few hours later on a $5,000 bail. A court appearance has been scheduled for September.
Just two months ago, Miguel almost faced a lawsuit after landing his leg drop on two helpless fans during his lively performance at the 2013 Billboard Music Award. One of the women, who claimed to have suffered brain damage, considered taking legal action against the singer, but that never came to fruition.
