Ben Affleck To Play Batman In 'Man Of Steel' Sequel
In a press release announcing the news, the filmmaker assured fans of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy — you know, the ones starring Christian Bale that broke a bunch of records around the world — that Affleck's take on the masked crusader will be "an entirely new incarnation of the character."
"Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman," Synder said in the press release. "He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him."
Man of Steel has grossed over $649 million worldwide. Its sequel, as of now titled Superman vs. Batman, is slated to open worldwide on July 17, 2015.
Let's just hope Affleck's performance in this will be a bit better than the much-derided Daredevil.
