Na-na-na-na-na-na-na Ben Affleck!

Yes, the Oscar winner will be taking on the role of Batman in Zack Snyder's follow-up to 2013's Man of Steel.

In a press release announcing the news, the filmmaker assured fans of Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy — you know, the ones starring Christian Bale that broke a bunch of records around the world — that Affleck's take on the masked crusader will be "an entirely new incarnation of the character."

Henry Cavill will reprise his role as Superman, while Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are set to return to the sequel.

"Ben provides an interesting counter-balance to Henry’s Superman," Synder said in the press release. "He has the acting chops to create a layered portrayal of a man who is older and wiser than Clark Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but retain the charm that the world sees in billionaire Bruce Wayne. I can’t wait to work with him."

Man of Steel has grossed over $649 million worldwide. Its sequel, as of now titled Superman vs. Batman, is slated to open worldwide on July 17, 2015.

Let's just hope Affleck's performance in this will be a bit better than the much-derided Daredevil.
