Broadway Legend Julie Harris Dies at 87
One of Broadway’s most beloved stars has died.
Five-time Tony Award winner Julie Harris passed away at her home in West Chatham, Mass. of congestive heart failure, actress and family friend Francesa James confirmed to the Associated Press on Saturday.
Harris’ career of nearly six decades included Sally Bowles in I Am a Camera, Emily Dickinson in The Belle of Amherst, Joan of Arc in The Lark and Mary Todd Lincoln in The Last of Mrs. Lincoln.
In 2002, Harris received a special lifetime achievement Tony Award.
Harris was married three times and had one son, Peter, with stage manager Manning Gurian.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
