Latest ‘Star Wars’ Rumor: Is Alex Pettyfer Joining the Cast?
Pettyfer is reportedly meeting with producers to speak about joining the highly-anticipated Star Wars sequel. Which role is anyone’s guess, but Latino Review’s Kellvin Chavez — who initially reported the rumor — seems to believe he’s in talks to play Ben Skywalker, the son of Luke. The role of Skywalker was reportedly offered to Ryan Gosling, who turned it down. It’s unclear how large this role is, though if earlier plot rumors are true, it could be a pretty substantial part for Pettyfer who’s starred in Magic Mike, the epic flop I Am Number Four and really not much else.
The same source suggests that Rachel Hurd-Wood is very close to securing the part of Jaina Solo, the daughter of Princess Leia and Han Solo. As Latino Review reports:
Our sources told us that she went in for a read and, so far, was the only one that went in for the part. However, there will be other girls going for a read, meaning SHE DOESN’T HAVE THE ROLE YET!! We want to be very clear on that before it gets blown out of context.
Hurd-Wood is best known for playing Wendy Darling in the 2003 film version of Peter Pan. Again, if those earlier rumors about the plot are true, this is, essentially, the film’s lead role.
Again, neither of these are confirmed, but Star Wars: Episode VII is supposed to start filming in January, 2014, so we can’t bee too far off from some sort of official announcement.
