Lamar Odom Gets Support From Family In Wake of DUI Arrest: 'We Are 100 Percent Behind Him'
"Of course, all of us in the family are upset about what's going on,” his cousin Michael Mercer told Celebuzz.
“We're here for Lamar in whatever he needs.”
Mercer says the last time he spoke with his famous relative was less than a year ago: “He knows where we are and we support him."
This comes after the former Clippers star was arrested early Friday morning on suspicion of DUI after being pulled over in Sherman Oaks, Calif. when cops observed his Mercedes weaving in and out of lanes, according to California Highway Patrol Sergeant Denise Joslin.
After failing several field sobriety tests and refusing any chemical tests, Odom was arrested and released three hours later from Van Nuys jail.
Odom’s stint behind bars is the latest news in a week that has created a media firestorm surrounding Khloe Kardashian’s husband. He was reported missing over the weekend and resurfaced on Wednesday in the San Fernando Valley amid numerous reports that he’s long battled drug addiction with his reality star wife recently trying to stage an intervention.
However, any reports of possible drug abuse come as a surprise to the family.
“This is all very new," added Mercer.
“I had no knowledge of it.
“If that is what’s allegedly going on and he needs help, he would get my support," he said. "If he needs to call or just lay low and get help, we are 100 percent behind him.
“He [Lamar] is going to do what he feels is right. I’m on his side either way.”
