Box Office Report: One Direction May Not Be Strong Enough To Trump ‘Lee Daniels’ The Butler’

Although the boys of One Direction had a fantastic showing at the box office this weekend, Lee Daniels’ The Butler will probably come out on top for the third weekend in a row.

One Direction: This Is Us, which was directed by the underappreciated Morgan Spurlock, should win the three day weekend with $17 million, but The Hollywood Reporter suggests that The Butler’s numbers, sitting at about $15 million currrently, won’t drop off as much as the concert documentary’s will tomorrow.

If that happens, The Butler will become the first movie of 2013 to win at the box office three weekends in a row.

Whichever movie does end up coming in second place shouldn’t worry though, because it could always be worse. They could be Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez, whose thriller Getaway has barely managed to bring in $4.5 million over the course of three days.
