Get To Know Your Celebrity Blabbermouth: Clinton Brown
When it comes to public rants via social media, Chris Brown gives Twitter a whole new meaning. From lashing out at critics to cussing out comedians (and the L.A. district attorney), the controversial R&B star is constantly adding to his 140-character repertoire.
Well, meet his father, Clinton Brown, who like his (in)famous son, isn’t shy about saying how he really feels… and even RiRi isn’t safe when it comes to his attempted words of wisdom for his troubled son. In fact, it seems, the “No BS” crooner never had his dad’s approval of their rocky relationship.
“I personally really didn’t want him and Rihanna back together,” Clinton told the New York Daily News in April.
“You have to have a balance in a relationship. You have to have someone who is spontaneous and whimsical but you also have to have someone who is grounded and logical.”
And a year before that, the 48-year-old corrections officer from Tappahannock, Virginia, told Star magazine, “when you’re that emotionally involved with someone and have a history, it could cause problems. Sometimes you need to cut the strings and move beyond the past.”
That “history” Clinton is clearly referring to is the 2009 incident when his 24-year-old son assaulted Rihanna and continues to face the media’s outrage today.
Clinton, who was once married to Chris’s mother Joyce Hawkins, said the “Diamonds” singer was “respectful” and “polite” when they met, but he has always had another pop star in mind for his son.
“I personally liked Jordin Sparks. She’s a wholesome young lady, very pretty,” he told the NYDN.
But Chris’s dad did get part of his wish. The on-again, off-again pop star pair called it quits (yet again) earlier this summer, which means Chris is on the prowl.
