Miley Cyrus: I Made History at the MTV VMAs

After much too much media hoopla, Miley Cyrus is finally tossing in her two cents about her controversial, twerk-tastic performance with Robin Thicke at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

"I don't pay attention to the negative because I've seen this play out so many times," the former Disney star says of her detractors in an MTV News interview. "How many times have we seen this play out in pop music?"

"Madonna's done it. Britney's done it," she continues. "Every VMA performance, that's what you're looking for; you're wanting to make history."

Lest we forget, Madonna left tongues wagging after rolling around in a wedding gown for her iconic "Like A Virgin" performance at the 1984 VMAs. Britney followed suit in 2001, dancing with a boa constrictor to her "I'm a Slave 4 U." Then the two teamed up to really raise the bar in 2003, sharing an infamous kiss.

Even before taking the stage this year, Miley knew she would be joining the ranks of those stand-out VMA performances.

"Me and Robin the whole time said, 'You know we're about to make history right now," she recalls.

"What's amazing is ... people are still talking about it. They're overthinking it," she adds. "You're thinking about it more than I thought about it when I did it. Like, I didn't even think about it 'cause that's just me!"

Maybe now we can put the Miley talk to rest.

Like a female Eric Cartman. "I made History y'all, I made History! Well behaved women rarely make history, and I am not a well behaved woman, y'all. I'm wild! I can not be tamed! That's just me, y'all" I make history! I will continually try to take down human morality to new lows, because I am just like that , y'all!"

That's right Miley say it as many times as u want to make yourself feel better because the reality is that that was tateless. I liked the song and u but clearly u need rehab. And people talk about theman in the uk who beheaded the soldier a couple months ago still..he might make it in the history books but that doesn't make him an icon

I agree that I am sick of the pictures of Miley's tongue hanging out...but I am also really sick of this topic. We all know that the VMAs are known for being risque...all I can say (especially with past performances) is that if people want to see kid-friendly performances that they should probably watch the Disney channel. I personally didn't care for Miley's performance but it's over and done with. Don't watch the VMAs knowing there are going to be eyebrow-raising controversial performances and scantily-clad attire and then keep complaining about it later. It was not a class act. Miley Cyrus is no longer like her uber-innocent alter ego Hannah Montana. That's what she wanted to do and the direction that she wanted to take. Time to let it go and move on.

Robin Thicke didn't look like a low class skank when those girls in the uncensored version of Blurred Lines was shown. Miley, on the other hand, simply looked like a low class, vulgar, slut.

Ya know what i say??? Especially since i saw the UNCENSORED version of Robin Thicke's Video for this song, her performance makes a LOT more sense...even down to the foam finger....Seriously, look it up on youtube and youll understand it. People want to knock Miley, but what about Robin Thicke and Pharrell doing a music VIDEO in which the girls are dancing around TOPLESS with only a gstring on (and yes, they DO show their tits) and HIM not getting criticized for it????

Poor girl. The fact that she didn't even think about it says alot. It says that, even though he's married with a kid, you don't have any qualms about gyrating on a married man in full view of millions. That's what porn stars do, honey. I hope her parents or her friends help her before it's too late. However, based on what her father said, I know we can count him out. Any father that is proud of his daughter for doing what Miley did is one poor excuse of a parent.

Perhaps you aren't the first to behave ridiculously but nobody said Madonna was ever right

Miley, You have it all wrong! History is " I Have a Dream", first steps on the Moon, The Berlin Wall crashing down, NOT YOUR EMBARRASSING VMA PERFORMANCE. Oh, and by the way, we are sick of seeing your tongue hanging out. You look like an overheated dog.

You made a rotten, nasty DISGUSTING bit of history. You should be very proud of yourself- doing what you did in front of children and the whole world. Even though Britney Spears's 2001 VMA performance wasn't exactly modest, she didn't go as far as you did. You should be as disgusted with yourself as I am with you- but I know you won't be. When you did it, you didn't even think about it, cause that's just you! You didn't think about it because you have exactly no intelligence!
