For His Next Role, Robert Pattinson Will Play a Photographer in ‘Life’

Forget about all the 50 Shades of Grey casting news, let’s focus on Robert Pattinson’s next project.

The British actor will portray photographer Dennis Stock in the upcoming film Life, based on the real life story and friendship between Stock and James Dean, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Dane DeHaan (Kill Your Darlings, In Treatment, The Place Beyond the Pines) will play Dean in the film, directed by the legendary Anton Corbijn.

Stock, who died in 2010, was behind the camera when this photo of Dean was taken in Times Square in 1955. The photo remains one of the most memorable and iconic images of Dean, who died in September that same year.

Pattinson’s post-Twilight career includes the Australian crime drama The Rover, out this year, and his second collaboration with David Cronenberg, the satire drama Maps to the Stars.

Life is expected to begin production in 2014.
