Madonna Sings From Behind Bars in Violent Teaser for Some ‘Secret Project’
Madonna has unveiled a new disturbing, dark teaser for her upcoming, so-called #SecretProjectRevolution, a collaboration with famed New York City-based photographer Steven Klein.
The chilling black-and-white clip begins with Madonna behind bars, as what is seemingly her rendition of “My Country, ‘Tis of Thee,” America’s de factor national anthem, plays in the background:
My country, ’tis of thee
Sweet land of liberty,
Of thee I sing;
Land where my fathers died,
Land of the pilgrims’ pride,
From ev’ry mountainside
Let freedom ring!
Wearing a black trench coat, blonde wig and fishnet globes, Madonna is captive in a cell, one of many in some sort of incarceration center, fenced in by barbed wires.
Then the clip hits a climax, cutting to quick shots of Madonna being battered: first tied up by a man, then dragged through the halls by armed guards, who throw her down on the ground. As the screen turns to black, the singer asks: “Are you with me?”
The teaser points fans to a site – artforfreedom.com – that holds a message:
Madonna & Steven Klein invite you to start your own revolution of love. We have created this platform to give people around the world an opportunity to answer the question: “What does freedom mean to you?”
Could this all mean the Queen of Pop has new music on the way? Seems we’ll find out when the ‘project’ comes out Sept. 24.
