Tom Hiddleston to Replace Benedict Cumberbatch in 'Crimson Peak'
Cumberbatch previously dropped out of Crimson Peak for unspecified reasons, though it was rumored that Cumberbatch was clearing his schedule for a possible role in the upcoming Star Wars reboot. (Cumberbatch has since said that he has not been offered a role in the movie.) Now, Variety reports that Hiddleston will be stepping in to replace Cumberbatch.
Crimson Peak is described as a "gothic horror" film about a young author (played by Mia Wasikowska) who discovers that her husband is not who he claims to be. The movie also stars Jessica Chastain and Charlie Hunnam. Hiddleston and Chastain are reportedly playing siblings from an aristocratic family and while it hasn't been confirmed, it's safe to assume that Hunnam will be playing the mysterious husband in question. The film is set for a 2015 release.
Hiddleston is best known for his role as Loki in Thor and The Avengers. Other recent roles of his include that of Tilda Swinton's vampire lover in Only Lovers Left Alive and adorable man teaching Cookie Monster the meaning of delayed gratification.
