Dakota Johnson Meets With 'Fifty Shades' Author E.L. James

Fans can protest all they like, but the Fifty Shades of Grey team is standing by their Anatasia Steele.

Following a week of backlash since she scored the part, Dakota Johnson got a chance to bond with the bestseller's author E.L. James and the producer of the film adaptation, Dana Brunetti, in New York City.

"The beautiful, talented, funny as feck, Dakota Johnson," James wrote on Twitter, sharing a snap from their Saturday afternoon together. "Oh and that bloke @danabrunetti."

Meanwhile, on the opposite coast, Charlie Hunnam — who will play sexy billionaire business Christian Grey, who seduces Johnson's college-aged Anatastia Steele — boasted about their on-screen chemistry.

"As soon as we got in the room and started reading with Dakota, I knew that I definitely wanted to do it, because there was a tangible chemistry between us,” he told reporters in L.A. over the weekend. “It felt kind of exciting and fun and weird and compelling, so that was it.”

Fifty Shades of Grey, which will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson, starts production this fall. It's due out in 2015.

She's way too tall for petite Ana, and in heels she'll be even bigger nearly challenging Charlie's height. Um...Ana is supposed to be small and Christian physically imposing and intimidating and drawn to protect her, so they just killed that vibe. Then of course she hardly even looks like the Ana in the books is described. No big eyes at least? What in the actual hell. Yeah they can stick by it but its going to be up to the fans whether we see it or not. The success depends on us.
