‘Wrecking Ball’ Music Video: Miley Cyrus Is Naked and Emotional

At-risk youth Miley Cyrus has made another one of them singing moving pictures and, oh boy, you can just hear the outrage coming. That’s right, the wholesome teen idol of yesteryear is naked! Someone call the American Family Association.

There’s a reason Miley’s music video for “Wrecking Ball” looks like a Terry Richardson shoot come to life, it was directed by the bespectacled photographer. The video shows Cyrus swinging on a wrecking ball (how literal!) and destroying some sort of cinderblock structure with a sledgehammer. It opens and closes with some very Sinead O’Conner-esque closeups.

Oh, and her tongue is back.

There are probably going to be some people up in arms over this, but it all seems pretty silly doesn’t it? The song is very emotional and raw, her nudity is just an extension of that vulnerability. If anything, Cyrus is just guilty of over-literal imagery. But I digress, you didn’t come here for an Intro to Comparative Lit course.
