Joseph Gordon-Levitt Spent ‘More Than a Year’ Daydreaming About Scarlett Johansson
In his latest interview with Men’s Health, the actor revealed he spent more than a year imagining the blonde bombshell as his onscreen romantic interest in his directorial debut, Don Jon. (Though no one can really blame him. Come on, just look at her.)
“I didn’t know Scarlett, but I spent more than a year with the image of her in my head playing this character,” he told the magazine, adding, “She couldn’t not do this.”
“Scarlett is a gorgeous, gorgeous woman, but if you just compare purely physical features, plenty of girls are just as gorgeous,” he continued. “But she creates this extra something. It’s in her walk, her eye contact. The total package is just off the charts.”
Their movie, which centers around the relationship between a porn addict and rom-com junkie, is due out Sept. 27. According to Gordon-Levitt, who wrote, directed and starred in Don Jon, he has no problems with his character’s, um, hobby of choice.
“Porn’s fine,” he said. “I’m aware that it can be hateful toward women. It can be addictive. It can get ugly. But it’s only damaging if you allow it to be.”
