Cate Blanchett to Make Directorial Debut with Psychological Thriller ‘The Dinner’

Another Hollywood star will soon be stepping behind the camera.

Deadline is reporting that Oscar winner Cate Blanchett is set to make her directorial debut with an adaptation of Herman Koch’s Dutch novel The Dinner.

The big screen adaptation will feature a script by Oren Moverman (whose resume includes words for The Messenger and Rampart).

The Dinner, which has been translated into more than 20 languages since its 2009 release, looks at how far some parents will go to project their children. A Dutch film based on the novel is due later this fall.

Blanchett can next be seen in George Clooney’s The Monuments Men.
