Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal’s ‘Prisoners’ Wins Weekend Box Office with $21.4M

Hugh Jackman has another number one movie to his name.

Prisoners, the kidnapping thriller also starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Maria Bello and Terrence Howard, grossed $21.4 million at the box office this weekend, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Last weekend’s winner Insidious Chapter 2 dropped to second place with $14.5 million, while The Family finished in third place with $7 million.

The weekend’s other newcomer, Chris Brown’s 3D dance flick Battle of the Year, placed fifth with a disappointing $5 million.

On deck for next week: Rush, Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt doing his best Marky Mark impression in JGL’s directorial debut, Don Jon.
