Children born this year will be very excited in 2028 to watch Jennifer Lawrence in the big screen adaptation of John Steinbeck‘s East of Eden in their sophomore year English class on their contact lens televisions or whatever Google has planned for us by then.
Lawrence is re-teaming with Hunger Games director Gary Ross for the project. East of Eden, considered by Steinbeck himself to be his greatest novel, tells the story of two Salinas Valley families, the Hamiltons and the Trasks. Lawrence will play a younger version of Cathy Ames, the long gone and presumed dead Trask family matriarch with a violent and gruesome past.
Ross is said to be a fan of East of Eden, a Cain and Abel retelling, and “plans to tell the generational story in two films.”
