‘Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit’ Trailer: Chris Pine Isn’t an Analyst Anymore

From the Enterprise to the CIA.

Here’s your first look at Chris Pine’s new film Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, based on the character created by the late Tom Clancy nearly 30 years ago.

Pine is the fourth actor to play Jack Ryan, following the footsteps of Alec Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October), Harrison Ford (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger) and Ben Affleck (The Sum of All Fears).

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit co-stars Keira Knightley, Kevin Costner and Kenneth Branagh, who also served as director. The new film is actually a reboot of the series, taking place prior to the original Jack Ryan novels.

According to IMDB, the film follows Jack Ryan in his young CIA days as he uncovers “a Russian plot to crash the U.S. economy with a terrorist attack.”

The picture opens on Christmas Day.

Clancy died at the age of 66 in a Baltimore hospital on Oct. 1.
