Jay Pharoah Addresses SNL's Diversity Problem

Jay Pharoah
Since Maya Rudolph left Saturday Night Live's cast in 2007, the show has not had a black woman in its cast. In fact, Kenan Thompson and Jay Pharoah remain the show's only black actors, even with six new comedians, all of whom are white, on the show this year. Speaking with The Grio, Pharoah spoke out about the very Caucasian elephant in the room, even suggesting a woman he thinks deserves to be on SNL.
They need to pay attention. Her name is Darmirra Brunson ... Why do I think she should be on the show? Because she’s black first of all, and she’s really talented. She’s amazing. She needs to be on SNL. I said it. And I believe they need to follow up with it like they said they were going to do last year.
Brunson currently has a job, she's on Love Thy Neighbor, Tyler Perry's show airing on Oprah's OWN.

Regardless, SNL has repeatedly come under fire for its lack of diversity, but at least someone on the show is speaking out about it this time.
