Julianne Hough Issues Apology After Donning Blackface for Halloween Costume

When it comes to Halloween, there's always that one person who takes costumes a little too far.

The celebrity that holds this year's title is none other than Julianne Hough, who apparently thought no one would be offended if she slapped on some dark makeup to impersonate Orange Is the New Black's Crazy Eyes (played by actress Uzo Aduba) for a recent Halloween party.

Well, she was dead wrong.

After massive backlash, the Dancing With the Stars alum presumably realized that blackface is never, ever appropriate in any day and age and apologized on her Twitter, writing:

I am a huge fan of the show Orange is the New black, actress Uzo Aduba, and the character she has created. It certainly was never my intention to be disrespectful or demeaning to anyone in any way. I realize my costume hurt and offended people and I truly apologize.

Seriously, this is why those "we're a culture, not a costume" posters still exist.

I think there's a lot more important things going on in our country that we should be more concerned with other than someone's Halloween costume! I guess I should be offended by the movie White Chicks coz they dressed up like white girls and then acted in a way that people think "stereotypical white girls" behave n speak but its jus a movie, just like hers is just a costume on HALLOWEEN!!!!! I guess I should tell the little children at my daughter school not to buy the Obama mask and wear it for Halloween because it's racist of them to want to be the president for Halloween when he's "black" and they're "white or another race" smh....I love the double standard in America and the hypocrisy!!! Lets all talk about Miley next shes Lil Kim!!

I feel she did not mean any real harm and like said on the show she looks like a bad spray tan then she does black

And btw Roger - no one asked her for an apology, the guilt ate her up about it and she volunteered it...and it was definitely deserved!

Well of course neither of you would find what she did offensive. Why does white America find it to be their responsibility to tell every race in this country what they should and should not be offended by?? THAT in itself is offensive! You tell Indians they're crazy for being offended by the Redskins and you tell Afrian-Americans to 'get over it' when idiotic things like this are done....but what else should we expect....you don't know, or care to know, anything about our history or why this IS very offensive to blacks in this country...google black-face and read a little about it before you speak on behalf of a race and culture you know absolutely NOTHING about.
