Chris Brown Heads to Rehab, Seeks “Insight” Into His Behavior
Three years after the rest of us realized it, Chris Brown has finally accepted the fact that maybe he’s got an emotional issue or two. Brown’s rep has confirmed that the 24-year-old singer has entered a rehab facility to “gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point,” his rep, Nicole Perna said in a statement.
Brown was arrested over the weekend for an alleged assault at a Washington, D.C. nightclub. The arrest is a possible violation of his parole, which he has been on since 2009 when he violently assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna. Though Brown has pleaded not guilty to the assault, his decision to go to rehab is at least a partial admission that his behavior of late is unacceptable.
There is no evidence to suggest that Brown is seeking treatment for a substance abuse problem, or that he even suffers one at all. However, E! has a source that claims he’s been self-medicating with weed and alcohol, but that same source goes on to destroy his/her credibility, claiming that Brown’s “a ‘good kid’ at heart.” So, take that with a grain of salt.
If Brown’s latest scrape is found to be in violation of his parole, he faces possible jail time. It’s likely that his rehab stint is intended as a show of good faith to the court that he’s seeking the help he needs of his own volition and that he doesn’t need jail time.
