Melissa McCarthy Laughs Off ‘ELLE’ Mag “Jacket-gate” Controversy
When Melissa McCarthy’s ELLE cover hit newsstands it wasn’t long before critics lashed out at the fashion mag for covering up the comedienne in a large coat and suggesting that the magazine was attempting to hide the actress’ famous curves.
But in true McCarthy style, she’s just laughing it off.
“There was a big to-do about it which kind of made me laugh,” McCarthy said on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno Friday.
“How dare someone put me in a $3,000 coat. I want to know why I don’t own the coat!”
And to all those critics — the styling for the front cover of the “Women In Hollywood” issue was all her idea.
“I wanted to kind of look like the walk of shame.
“I picked out the coat,” she added. “I had a great little black dress.
“Ooh, is that that cashmere and I pulled it off, ran upstairs and Jacket-gate started.”
