Reese Witherspoon Finally Sells Her $5.9 Million Ojai Panty-Dropping Palace

One year and over $4 million in price cuts later, Reese Witherspoon is finally saying goodbye to her estate in Ojai, Calif., Celebuzz has learned.

The actress struggled to sell the picturesque property, but $5.9 million seems to be the lucky number and the sale is pending, according to property records.

Although her bank account may be taking a hit (she was originally asking $10 million for the rustic retreat), somehow we’re thinking the superstar who’s been known to command up to $20M a movie is going to be just fine.

But we’re sure this one will be hard to part with, given that it’s the place where she and hubby Jim Toth said their “I dos” in 2011. Not to mention, it was rumored that Witherspoon offered the abode to her Water For Elephants co-star Robert Pattinson as a secret hideaway from the paps during ex-girlfriend Kristin Stewart’s headline-making affair.

It’s so stunning Elle Décor also just had to have the oasis on its cover in September 2012 — and we can see why.

The Mud actress purchased the property from prominent interior designer Kathryn Ireland in 2008 and added her own Southern hospitality. And just like the A-lister’s classic fashion flair, her home sweet home is just as charming.

The rustic Mediterranean farmhouse was built by acclaimed architect Wallace Neff for Ojai founding father Edward Drummond Libbey and later transformed into a home. And although Witherspoon spruced it up with a few modern accessories, she kept its century old fixtures, hardware and original stonework intact.

The 4-bedroom, 3.5 bath main house is fitted with timber beams high above, countless French doors, more fireplaces than you could imagine, tons of natural sunlight and an upstairs mezzanine with original Talavera tile staircase.

The real showstopper is the 7-acre countryside surrounding the hillside hacienda that’s perfect for the true outdoor lover. Courtyards, verandas and terraces line the house for the most tranquil setting.

And there’s plenty of room for guests with 5 additional bedrooms in the three cottages and carriage house, and even more ways to enjoy the warm Cali weather in the swimming pool, spa or on horseback with stables on the estate.
