NBC Wants a Variety Show Hosted by Maya Rudolph

Maya Rudolph has found her next TV gig. She will be re-teaming with Lorne Michaels to produce and host a primetime variety show on NBC.

Deadline reports that NBC will air the show’s pilot as a special following the Winter Olympics in February. If that’s successful, it would be picked up as a full series. Nearly everyone is familiar with Rudolph’s sketch comedy chops, having spent seven years on Saturday Night Live. But she can also sing, as well, and did so frequently on the SNL; Rudolph’s mother was the soul singer Minnie Riperton.

Rudolph was most recently on Up All Night with Will Arnett and Christina Applegate, which was also produced by Michaels.
