Dear Harry: Take Our Love To Keep You Warm in Antarctica
Today, the three teams competing in Walking With the Wounded’s race to the South Pole gathered in Trafalgar Square before Sunday’s departure, where Prince Harry helped reveal the Virgin Money Endeavour Trophy, to be given to the winning team.
All three teams – Great Britain, Commonwealth and the United States – have been training to endure Antarctica’s extreme weather conditions, and the assumption is that the winning team will reach the South Pole around December 17th.
“The cause is for one cause and one cause only and that is to raise awareness for all the wounded, sick and injured whether it’s in military life or whether it’s in civilian life,” Harry said at the event.
Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh met members from the teams at Buckingham Palace yesterday, with Harry showing his “granny” the different equipment they’ll take along.
Provided Harry returns before Christmas, he will spend the holiday with the royal family at Sandringham, per tradition. Each member is given a time to arrive before Christmas Eve, and packs around 5 outfits per day due to a busy schedule of tea, gift exchanges, dinner and shooting.
This month-long trek means that Harry won’t be able to communicate with his beloved, Cressida Bonas.
