CommentBuzz: The Week’s Best Reader Comments About Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, and More
The most important part of any relationship is communication. What we have here, you and me, is a relationship. Therefore, we must communicate. You listen to what I say, and I listen to what you say. How was your week? Did you do anything fun? Did you buy a Lady Gaga album? Go to a premiere of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire? Watch Justin Bieber insult your entire nation? Sounds like everyone had a great week! (Everyone except for Justin Bieber, apparently.) But I want to hear more about you, because I care that much. And that’s why I’ve taken the time to collect this week’s best comments, written by you. Yes, you!
Miley Cyrus — just bein’ Miley! — called herself “one of the biggest feminists in the world.” Surprisingly, people didn’t respond all that well:
“…is everyone clear about the definition of cognitive dissonance now.” – 16rpark18
“That who’re us no feminist everything she does contradicts all she does . All she wants is for young girls to objectify themselves have no morals party hard due young is what she and the industry wants. She’s a hideous horrible person who benefits nobody but her self!! She had no charity’s nothing people like her need to die young!! Scum of the earth!” – Erica
Jennifer Lawrence’s new pixie cut caused most people to say “WHAAAAT?!,” but not everyone disapproved:
“totally love it!!! she looks awesome! young and fun and carefree….go Jenn!” – Nan
Justin Bieber’s terrible publicity streak, which began almost a full year ago, continued after he wiped the stage with Argentina’s flag:
“What the crap is wrong with that dude?!” – Demi
“omg why did he do that?! That’s not the guy I feel in love with in 2009 clean ur act or we are over for Good! :)” – Rebecca
Speaking of The Bieb’s bad publicity, he also got kicked out of his Buenos Aires hotel:
“And the little douchebag was partying too hard to do concerts. that Ivy drip wasnt for food poisoning more like drug overdose . He canceled the show because he partied at the Electronics Concert CreamFields. The annual rave concert went until 10am and Justin was there full party and druged. The next day was the concert where he sang 4 songs and then cancelled claiming food poisoning. he ate at the best restaurants and hotels here in Buenos Aires and he is the only one with food poison in his entourage give me a break.. He needs some serious REHAB. And taught manners” – Sergio
Lastly, Lily Allen returned to save pop music from itself, only she received as much backlash as she did praise:
“I don’t think she’s lampooning them, merely situating them in the current life, and how female performers need to act in a certain way to get forward.” – suspendedfromthemoon
“You ask me she is seeking attention too! The most popular word is “b*tch,” so who wants attention? Sorry yeah, if the most popular word of your song is b*tch, then who is seeking attention. Yeah, this song would not get airplay if she didnt scream b*tch so many times. Terrible attention seeking song. It seems like if women are not talking about sex, they are hating on the ones that are. All these women are pathetic, attention seeking trashes. I love Ariana Grande.” – Crystal
