That Moment When Prince Harry Realized What He Signed Up For
After a polar storm delayed the start of their race by 48 hours, all three teams participating in Walking With The Wounded’s South Pole Challenge finally landed in Antarctica today.
Sky News royal correspondent Paul Harrison followed Prince Harry from Cape Town, South Africa to Russia’s Novolazarevskaya Station in Antarctica, capturing images of the prince as he prepared for what will be a very grueling race indeed.
While waiting for the all clear, the three teams got in some more training with a hike up Table Mountain and long coastal walks.
For the next three days, the teams will get acclimated before heading to the starting line at the 87 degrees South. Another four days of acclimatization will commence before the actual race begins. At this point, the first team may not get to the South Pole until Christmas.
