Angelina Jolie Buys Brad Pitt a Heart-Shaped Island for his 50th Birthday
Angelina Jolie has reportedly purchased the island of Petra, located 50 miles away from New York City, according to The Mirror.
Brad, who turns the big 5-0 on December 18th, is an architecture enthusiast and specifically an avid Frank Lloyd Wright fan. So when Angie discovered Wright had designed the island's two properties, she allegedly plunked down more than $24 million dollars for Petra.
UPDATE 11:33 AM PST: Well, it’s the thought that counts. Angelina Jolie has a few more weeks till Brad Pitt’s big 5-0 if she still wants to get the island of his dreams despite reports she plunked down $24 million for Petra Island just outside NYC. In fact, the family who’s called the island home for years has no idea how that rumor got started in the first place: “I don’t have any idea where that [report] came from,” said Donna Massaro, whose parents Joseph and Barbara Massaro, own the pricey property. “The family threw it out there to see if anyone was interested, and so far no [potential buyers] have [come forward]," she told the NY Post.
This isn't the first time Angelina has splashed out on an elaborate and unique gift for Brad. Angie bought Brad a waterfall and surrounding property in California just two years ago. The gift was inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's exquisite home Fallingwater, located in rural Pennsylvania.
The source tells the Mirror, once Angie heard the island was available, "she arranged a viewing. She was really impressed. The house is perfect for romantic getaways or as a family retreat. It’s very private. And Angelina knows the fact the island is in the shape of a heart will mean so much to him."
Brad better start brainstorming for Angie's 40th birthday now. He only has two years to top an island!
