The Grammys Will Be One Helluva Show
If the Grammy Nominations Concert hints at what we can expect from the actual awards show, then we’re in for a treat.
The Grammy noms kicked off last night with a running start…literally. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis made an entrance to remember, running through the hallways of the Nokia Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, making their way through the audience and eventually to the stage as they performed Thrift Shop to open the show.
The energy continued as LL Cool J took to the stage to host the star-studded evening accompanied by celebs like Enrique Iglesias, Ed Sheeran, Arsenio Hall, Kelly Rowland, Melissa Etheridge, Pauley Perrette and Candice Swanepoel. Mixed in amongst the excitement over nominations were live performances by Lorde, Keith Urban and Miguel, and Robin Thicke with T.I. and Earth, Wind & Fire.
Our favorite performance of the evening definitely goes to Blurred Lines, especially with the surprise appearance by Earth, Wind & Fire. But Lorde comes in a close second…Girl’s got TALENT! Her live vocals are better than anything we hear on the radio, and the A cappella rendition of Royals she performed was a brave move (considering the song mocks much of what the Grammy-nominated pop songs celebrate) and all the more incredible. For a just-turned 17-year-old, she’s got a lot to look forward to—including several Grammy nominations.
