Vin Diesel Shares His Touching Visit with Paul Walker’s Family

There is no question that Vin Diesel and Paul Walker were the best of friends.

After filming seven blockbuster movies together in the Fast & Furious franchise, they became a family. So, it is no surprise that when news of Walker’s tragic death came to light Diesel rushed to be by the Walker family’s side.

“When I heard, I immediately flew back to California, and went directly from the plane to his mother's house...,” the action star shared with fans on Facebook.

But in an effort to be a pillar of strength for those mourning, it was Diesel who needed their love and support more than anything.

“I thought they needed my strength,” he continued, “but realized when I got there and broke down before his family, that it was I who needed theirs.

“His mother hugged me and said I am so sorry... I said sorry? You're the mother who lost a son?... She said yes, but you lost your other half...”

The 46-year-old actor previously opened up about his best friend in the days after his untimely death to thank fans in person for their well wishes in Valencia, Calif. where a makeshift memorial has been set up at the crash site.

“If he could see for himself that all of you had showed to up to show my brother love at this hard time and that the family gets to see all of you to show the love that you you’ve shown Paul,” he said Monday night, "it’s going to stay with me forever. I want to say thank you for coming down here and showing that angel up in heaven how much you appreciate him.”

He also sent loving words to his "brother" in a deeply personal message:
