Beyonce Still Has The Number One Album in America
You can't keep a good woman down. Superstar Beyonce retains the top spot atop the Billboard 200, reflecting sales of 374,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
The singer sprung her album Beyoncé without notice on an unsuspecting public earlier this month, and it debuted at No. 1, when it sold 617,000 copies between Dec. 13 and 15, the first three days it was available on iTunes.
Billboard's Keith Caulfield writes that, so far Beyoncé has moved 991,000 copies, making it the 12th-biggest seller of 2013. It will most likely make the top 10 list of biggest albums of the year, by the new year.
The album, Beyonce's first since 2011, was released exclusively through Apple's iTunes digital music store and was not available in other retailers until December 21.
On Christmas Beyonce released the third behind-the-scenes look at the making of her self-titled surprise album. Watch that video below.
