Find Out Why Johnny Depp Never Married Vanessa Paradis After 14 Years Together

As Celebuzz was the first to exclusively report, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are finally going to say “I do.”

But it took a long time for the big screen heartthrob to get down on one knee to utter those four words to the right woman.

The 50-year-old actor was in a long-term relationship of 14 years with model and singer Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has two children Lily-Rose, 14, and Jack, 11, but the two never married.

Back in 2010, just two years before they split, Depp explained why they never officially sealed the deal with a walk down the aisle.

“I never found myself needing that piece of paper,” Depp told Extra. “Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don’t need somebody to say, ‘okay you’re married.’

“If Vanessa wanted to get hitched, why not… But the thing is, I’d be so scared of ruining her last name. She’s got such a good last name.”

And the feeling was mutual. It seems Paradis was not itching to get hitched, either.

“Each summer people say we’re supposed to be getting married, but we don’t talk about it that much,” Paradis told the U.K. edition of Elle in 2008. “He’s got me, and he knows he’s got me.”

“I love the romance of ‘let’s get married,’ but then, when you have it so perfect … I mean, I’m more married than anybody can be — we have two kids. Maybe one day, but it’s something I can really do without.”

Well, the Pirates of the Caribbean star sure likes the sound of Mrs. Amber Depp and so does the 27-year-old actress, who finally said ‘yes’ over the holidays and tried her hardest to hide the big engagement bling while out and about in L.A. on Monday.

“It happened on Christmas Eve,” a source close to the family told CB!

“Amber really took her time to make up her mind.

“She turned him down before,” added the source, “before she said yes. So she waited and was thinking about it for a long time.”

Well, you know the saying, good things come to those who wait.
