Donatella Versace Hails Kate Middleton as the Queen of Couture

Many of her gowns are custom-made, so it’s no wonder that the Duchess of Cambridge loves herself a couture piece.  For a black-tie occasion, Her Royal Highness will call on Jenny Packham, Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen or even her own private dress-maker (though not for formal engagements…yet).

Donatella Versace picked up on this, and tipped her hat to Catherine for her classic, tasteful sense of style.

I call it the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge effect,” Versace told the Sunday Times (via InStyle UK) from Paris, where Haute Couture Fashion Week is underway.

The new mother can “wear anything,” according to Versace.

“She can wear anything because she has a fantastic body.”

That body, Versace hopes, will wear one of the designer’s Grecian draped dresses from her SS14 collection.  I don’t hate this idea.

Versace’s late brother, Gianni was a friend of the Princess of Wales, and passed away just a few weeks before her fatal Paris car accident.  Diana, who wore many of Versace’s designs, attended his funeral with Sir Elton John.
