How Leonardo DiCaprio Just Got Himself Another Shot at Winning an Oscar
The four-time Oscar nominee has just earned himself a fifth nod thanks to the producers branch of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, who have decided that the actor will be eligible to win as a producer for Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street in the Best Picture category. In layman’s terms: the much-snubbed actor has another chance at winning an Academy Award this year.
Should Wolf win, DiCaprio will accept the award along with Emma Tillinger Koskoff, Joey McFarland and Scorsese, who was also recently deemed eligible to receive the Best Picture Oscar as a producer. Riza Aziz, who was nominated for a Producers Guild Award for the film, will no longer be up for an Academy Award.
Red Granite, the production company DiCaprio brought on to fully financed the $100 million film, has released a statement about the new nomination change to Deadline, reading:
“We are thrilled that the Academy has recognized the invaluable contributions of Marty, Leo, Joey and Emma on behalf of The Wolf Of Wall Street. Riza Aziz and Red Granite remain honored to be part of the production.”
Go get ‘em, tiger.
