Paul Wesley: “Stefan Needs to Get a New Fling”
Ahead of tonight’s 100th episode, I sat down with The Vampire Diaries’ Paul Wesley at The Grove in LA, where he helped launch Old Spice’s Re-fresh Body Spray and “Scent Responsibly” educational program to end the overspraying epidemic.
The night before, Wesley attended a Golden Globes viewing party with some friends.
‘This was my first time doing any Golden Globe stuff, and it was nice,” he told me. “It was really more about the people at your table and nice company. I went out afterwards with a couple of my friends.
“It was a rare night out in LA,” Wesley said, adding that he was about to hop a flight back to Atlanta, where he had a 6am call time on set the next day.

What are the chances of Stefan and Caroline (Candice Accola) hooking up?
“Somebody just asked me that! There has been an undercurrent the past couple of years. I’d like it to happen. I think Stephan needs to get a new fling.”
He deserves it.
“He does. Poor guy,” Wesley laughed.
Are you Team Stelena or Delena?
“At the end of the day I am biased, and I would say that Stefan and Elena are probably the couple. But in all sincerity, I don’t think either brother should [end up with Elena]. I think it is all one big dysfunctional relationship!”
What are your thoughts on Elena as a vampire?
“She should go back to being human, and the boys should go off and get some new gals.”
Do you like Klaus?
“Yeah I love Klaus. I like the spinoff [The Originals]. I like the mythology of it is really interesting.
“He’s a complex character. He’s pretty vicious, I like [those kinds of] characters.”
What is your favorite Vampire Diaries episode?
“The End of the Affair, where Stephan has flashbacks of the 1920. I really love the way it was shot, and I loved the writing.
“I love some of the themes where Klaus and Stephan met for the first time and bonded. I loved the costumes. It was a fun episode to work on.”
As for a crossover episode with The Originals?
“I imagine that something will cross over eventually,” he said.
The Vampire Diaries airs tonight at 8pm ET on The CW.
