Watch Scarlett Johansson’s Banned Super Bowl Commercial

There’s been plenty of controversy surrounding Scarlett Johansson teaming up with SodaStream, including a Super Bowl ad she shot for the company which was rejected by Fox. Well now you can watch it online.

At first glance the ad seems pretty tame. So why was it banned? According to USA Today, Fox objected to Johansson specifically calling out Coke and Pepsi:

Daniel Birnbaum, CEO of SodaStream, bitterly complained to USA TODAY late Friday that Fox rejected the Super Bowl commercial “because they’re afraid of Coke and Pepsi.”

That’s the line that Fox has demanded that SodaStream kill, says Birnbaum. “What are they afraid of?” asks Birnbaum. “Which advertiser in America doesn’t mention a competitor? This is the kind of stuff that happens in China. I’m disappointed as an American.”

Well if SodaStream was looking for viral success, they’ve found it: nothing is more enticing that the words “Scarlett Johansson” and “banned ad.” The ad already has upwards of 1 million views on YouTube.
