Grinding and Booty Slaps: Miley Cyrus Goes ‘Unplugged’ with Madonna
The invite to the taping of Miley Cyrus: MTV Unplugged billed the show as a “once in a lifetime opportunity,” and it certainly delivered.
Cyrus kicked off the country-themed special rocking a red and white jumpsuit, white cowboy boots, and a white bedazzled cowboy hat — a gift from her new pal Madonna.
Before even getting the show started, the pop star warned the crowd, “A lot could happen tonight. I hope you’re ready for that!”
She got up to her usual tongue-wagging, raunchy on-stage antics while performing some 11 songs, mostly from her new album, Bangerz, along with a cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.”
After a quick wardrobe change into a denim bikini, Cyrus surprised the crowd with a mash-up of Madonna’s “Don’t Tell Me” and her own “We Can’t Stop.” Madge, herself, then appeared from within the audience to join Cyrus for the special rendition. The two got up-close and personal during the performance, at one point the two were grinding one another before Cyrus booty-slapped Madge. The set ended with the two bringing the crowd to their feet with an energetic hoedown.
Following the duet, Cyrus told the crowd, “That was pretty f**king cool. It sounds super lame, but as a pop star it’s pretty cool performing with Madonna. Today was one of those days that it was really easy to get out of bed.”
If anyone doubted why Cyrus deserved an Unplugged special, she proved her raw talent time and time again throughout the night. Tune in to Miley Cyrus: MTV Unplugged tonight at 9pm ET/PT.
