Fred Armisen Will Be the Bandleader on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’

Every night on Late Night with Seth Meyers will be an SNL reunion. That’s because Fred Armisen will serve as the permanent bandleader for the show, as NBC confirmed today.

Monday Seth Meyers tweeted a picture of the full band with the caption, “Here’s the first photo of the new @LateNightSeth band!”

Though he’s best known for his comedy, Armisen has been playing music for years. In the ’90s he played with Blue Man Group and, more recently, he played with The Clash for a Funny or Die video. Armisen also has his own band. Armisen’s new job will not affect his old one, and Portlandia will continue on IFC.

If Meyers and Armisen (which sounds like a top-notch legal firm, by the way) aren’t enough for you, there will be another SNL alum in the house when Late Night premieres on Feb. 24: Amy Poehler. Get pumped, you guys.
