How Leonardo DiCaprio celebrated his Globes win.
Watching Leonardo DiCaprio act out the drug scenes in The Wolf of Wall Street, you’d think that Leo was channeling some sort of past experience, seeing that the scenes were so convincing.

However, it couldn’t be further from the truth. In an interview with The Los Angeles Times, DiCaprio insists he has has never been in to taking narcotics.

“Never done it,” DiCaprio says emphatically, talking about drugs.

“That’s because I saw this stuff literally every day when I was 3 or 4 years old. So Hollywood was a walk in the park for me…. I’d go to parties and it was there and, yeah, there’s that temptation.

“Hollywood is a very volatile place where artists come in and they essentially say they want to belong. It’s incredibly vulnerable to be an actor and also get criticism at a young age when you’re formulating who you are. We’ve seen a lot of people fall victim to that, and it’s very unfortunate.”

As for who he based his rubber-legged drug scene performance in the film on, he found his inspiration on the internet.

“A lot of the research that I did really came from watching this one video on loop,” the 39-year-old actor said, according to Celebrity Fix.

“It’s called ‘The Drunkest [Guy] ]in the World.’ It’s a man trying to get a beer, but his body doesn’t quite work. That was a huge inspiration to me.”

The YouTube clip shows a clearly inebriated man stumbling through a convenience store, falling down and into racks of merchandise, as he tries to buy more beer to keep the party going.

“It’s not just the fact that he was sort of elasticated and trying to get [up], it was his motivation that was really intriguing,” said Dicaprio. “He had one singular goal, one that was to get a beer out of the 7-Eleven, and it took him a half an hour.”
