Kate Upton Defies Gravity in Sports Illustrated Bikini Shoot

Yep, that is Kate Upton floating in zero gravity.

The 21-year-old uber model donned a bikini for her photo shoot with Zero Gravity Corp. ZERO-G for Sports Illustrated’s 50th swimsuit issue. The photos, which a news release states were taken in March, show Upton floating in mid-air, similar to astronauts floating in zero gravity.

“The ZERO-G experience was really exhilarating for everyone involved,” MJ Day, editor of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, said in the news release. “We have been almost everywhere in the past 50 years with SI Swimsuit, but we have never done anything like this. It was certainly the most out-of-the-box shoot. Once again, Kate surprised us all with how she handled modeling in weightlessness."

Upton and a team of SI photographers and stylists did the shoot on a Boeing 727 named G-Force One. It took place at the Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, Florida last March.

Before everyone started floating around you can hear someone instructing Kate: “Just remember, face to camera. Most important.” (And when you watch the video you’ll see how tricky that turned out to be.)

Zero gravity apparently keeps wardrobe malfunctions to a minimum. “The great thing is those won’t go anywhere when you’re upside down,” someone notes as Kate readjusts her ample assets.

The issue is on newsstands now. Launch the gallery to check out the sexy pics.
