Pink’s Probably Going to Do Her Acrobatic Thing at the Oscars This Year Too

Since she’s going for her EGOT — in this case doing the same schtick at the Emmys, Grammys, Oscars and Tonys — Pink will be performing at this year’s Academy Awards. While it’s not clear exactly what she’ll be doing at the show, the Academy’s press release says her appearance will be “a highly anticipated moment.” Nothing is more highly anticipated than something that’s been done at the 2010 Grammys, the 2014 Grammys, the 2009 VMAs and numerous concerts worldwide.

“We are very excited to welcome Pink to the Oscar stage for the very first time,” producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement. “She is regarded as one of the greatest voices in pop music and one of the best performers of her generation, and we are thrilled to have her join us for a highly anticipated moment on the broadcast.”

In addition to acting, Pink also made the transition into acting this year, starring in Thanks for Sharing this year with Mark Ruffalo and Gwyneth Paltrow.

There have been a lot of times when I thought more performances might make the Academy Awards more exciting, but now that the producers are actually taking my advice, I regret ever thinking it. In addition to Pink, Idina Menzel, Pharrell and Bette Midler are set to perform during the ceremony.

But here’s a novel idea: what if we just focused on handing out the awards and gave the winners time to make a real speech instead?
