Amanda Bynes’ DUI Case Dismissed, Sentenced to Three Years Probation
The Los Angeles District Attorney’s office confirmed to CELEBUZZ that the actress struck a no-contest plea to reckless driving in the court case stemming from the 2012 DUI incident. Though Bynes was not present at court, her lawyer Richard Hutton accepted the plea, amending the case to a lesser charge known as “wet reckless.” The judge sentenced her to three years probation as well as a mandatory 3-month alcohol education program.
Bynes has had several run-ins with the law. The final incident, in which she lit a fire on the driveway of a residential home in Thousand Oaks, Calif., resulted in her admitting to a rehabilitation facility for six months. She was released in December and has had great progress in her recovery, according to TMZ.
Bynes is currently living with her parents and attending fashion design classes in Orange County.
