Selena Steps Out for her First Big Event Since Rehab News, Thanks Bestie Demi Lovato
Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato Honored at Variety's unite4:humanity Event
It's been a rough couple months for Selena Gomez, but last night she showed she still remains confident and beautiful, glowing during Variety's first ever unite4:humanity gala last night.
This marks the first red carpet event the "Come and Get It" singer has attended since admitting she secretly checked herself into a rehabilitation center in January. She showed up proving she's just as glamorous as ever, rocking a pink jeweled jumper with a red hot pout.
The singer attended the event with her mom, but her bestie Demi Lovato was also by her side. In fact, when Selena was honored with the Young Visionary Award, she took a moment to thank her close gal pal.
"I'm truly honored to be in a room with such incredible people that inspire me. I want to thank my family. They are the ones who taught me the importance of giving back before we had anything to give back... I have to say, I want to thank Demi," she said during her acceptance speech.
"Just the fact that we're here at 21 years old, and we've always talked about using our voice to help this generation... I feel like sometimes we're the only ones holding the fort, and I'm so thankful for you to inspire me everyday. I hope that we can, together, completely inspire this generation to focus on what's really important. So thank you so much."
As you probably assume, Demi--who was sitting between Eva Longoria and her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama--got quite teary-eyed during the touching moment. Selena has always been a big supporter of Demi, even through her troubling addiction with drug use and a stint in rehab in 2010.
When the tables turned and Selena needed help, Demi had a major impact on her recovery as well, proving the everlasting power a good friendship can have.
