‘Homeland’ Star James Rebhorn Has Passed Away: Report

Sad news for fans of James Rebhorn. Reports are circulating that the actor has passed away at just 65 years old.

The Hollywood Reporter broke the news early Sunday, claiming the Homeland star died at his home on Friday with his family present.

Diane Busch, Rebhorn’s agent, confirmed the news for THR, saying that “he [James] died from melanoma, which had been diagnosed in 1992. He fought it all this time. He died Friday afternoon at his home in New Jersey, where he had been receiving hospice care for a week and a half.”

Rebhorn has been a working actor for more than five decades, usually playing supporting roles in memorable movies and television shows. Most notably, he starred in My Cousin Vinny, Basic Instinct, Independence Day, and as Claire Danes’ father on the Showtime drama Homeland.

He also established himself as a stage actor, working as recently as January in Too Much, Too Much, Too Many.
