Selena Gomez Gives Emotional We Day Speech: "I Lost Sight of Who I Was"

Selena Gomez opened up to a crowd of young people at yesterday's first annual We Day in Oakland, Calif. The 21-year old singer and actress got a little choked up as she talked about the pressures she's faced in Hollywood and how she's learned to accept herself.

Selgo, who looked stunning in a red Emporio Armani suit, told the audience "You all have pressure that you have to deal with every day - with school, with work, with friends, with parents, with family. They tell me what to wear, how to look, what I should say, how I should be. Until recently I had given into that pressure, I lost sight of who I was. I listened to opinions of people and I tried to change who I am because I thought others would accept me for it. And I realized I don't know how to be anything but myself."

The "Come & Get It" singer reportedly spent two weeks in rehab in January to deal with "emotional issues," and is now back together with Justin Bieber, despite the wishes of her family and close friends.

The brunette beauty also credited her mom, Mandy, for giving the confidence to believe in herself. "She said the most important thing is always to trust in myself. If I'm doing something, I should do it because I love it and I think I can do it."
