Lupita Nyong’o Nabs Her First Post-Oscar Gig

Since winning an Oscar as Patsey in 12 Years a Slave, Hollywood’s newest A-lister Lupita Nyong’o has yet to book another role, but she does have a new job as the face of Lancôme. The French cosmetics company made the announcement Friday, making Nyong’o the company’s first black ambassador.

“I am truly honored to join the Maison Lancôme, a brand with such a prestigious history that I have always loved. I am particularly proud to represent its unique vision for women and the idea that beauty should not be dictated, but should instead be an expression of a woman’s freedom to be herself,” Nyong’o said in a statement.

Nyong’o also posted a short video on Instagram in which she refers to herself as an ambassadress which makes me love her even more than I already did.

The pairing is a good fit. Lancôme is, of course, a legendary beauty brand while Nyong’o stood out all award season, landing on the best dressed list of just about every red carpet she set foot on. Nyong’o also stars in Miu Miu’s spring 2014 campaign.

Kate Winslet, Julia Roberts and Penélope Cruz have previously served as ambassadors for Lancôme. Nyong’o’s ads will make their debut in September.
